What?? Where?? I had no idea that the taps didn’t match and to me it wasn’t a big deal but to my work off-sider it was definitely noteworthy!!
I’m working away from home and our accommodation is very basic to say the least. The décor is right on point if we were still in 1970 but I have a roof over my head and a hot shower so I’m not complaining .. and neither was my off-sider it was just a comment that was made last night. When I got back to my room I checked out my taps and..they don’t match!
It got me thinking though… something that was never on my radar was definitely on someone else's. Something that gets under the skin of someone else may not get under your skin. I work with some people who, at this time, are particularly anxious about anything and everything and it’s kind of foreign for me. I’m not saying I don’t worry about things but I know I have God on my side and I don’t need to worry about anything.
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one [j]cubit to his [k]stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not [l]arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
I know this is a long scripture but it totally captures what I’ve been thinking. There are so many things in our everyday lives that we can get so worked up over… but are we going to let them take over our world or are we going to let God do what God does best… leave the worrying up to Him.
So what if the taps don’t match, God holds the entire universe in His hand…He’s got this, and He’s got you!
